Roger Taylor slams TV talent showsWednesday, May 14 2008, 11:14 BST By Beth Hilton, Entertainment Reporter Queen drummer Roger Taylor has hit out at TV talent searches. The 58-year-old said very few gifted artists have emerged from reality shows such as American Idol and The X Factor. He told Heart FM: "People confuse fame with talent, as if one equates to the other, which it doesn't." He added that he had written a song about his contempt for the hopefuls who appear on the programmes. Queen recently confirmed that their first studio album in 13 years will be called The Cosmos Rocks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ oops sorry, but I just couldn't resist posting this picture from "Canadian Idol" .... ;D

Oh well - that's not news. Everyone who gives C-lebrity a listen knows it's about those shows. Duh! Well, you could say at least he knows what he's talking about.

Yeah, why the hell is he contributing then? I second that, but I think Brian is more into those stuff... and maybe he dragged him to all those things like ;"Canadian Idol" and the commercial with Pink and Britney Spears with "We will rock you"... I don't know 'cause there really is a contradiction in his words. Ho well...

Well I don't see the point of doing the Idols and the X Factor. They just destroy other people's dreams and make a fool of them. I think Roger is right, well Queen didn't audition before. I hate those programmes now, they're so boring now. I feel sorry for the people who go there, sing a song, then get told to F... Off.

Firstly there are too many of these damn talent shows out there!!! Take Britains got talent for example. I would have taken this show to be about people who actually do have talent whether it's a comedian or juggling but what do we get?? More flippin' singers!!! Like this country doesn't have enough.......... Anyway straying from the point ~ apart from the fact that roger has a damn good point why must he be two faced about these things? Were they only on Canadian Idol at the time to promote themselves and nothing more? Have they ever heard of the word no?? Makes you wonder doesn't it

Were they only on Canadian Idol at the time to promote themselves and nothing more? Have they ever heard of the word no?? Makes you wonder doesn't it I second every word and it's exactly what I was thinking about it. Like someone said on queenzone: If those billboards Brian is currently moaning about (and I think he's right cause your attention when driving a car or a bike or whatever gets distracted) I think he wouldn't mind if those billboards would show promotional stuff for the tour and/or album. Depends on the fact if you profit from the stuff (in case of Canadian Idol I am not sure they have... :

could not agree more! I totally agree with Rogers statement but think it is totally rediculous to say that and then do the show! tut! They don't actually profit as such from the show but they do from the publicity it gives them! That is the problem with brian as I said before he has all these great principals but will still use them for Queen if Jim says so and if you try to answer him, point this out or generally disagree you will get blanked by his yes men
