Looks like Roger will be having to re-paint the outside of his house in the near future. Seems he didnt have the planning permission to paint it in the pink & grey colours it is now & his appeal has been chucked out! Shame really, i quite liked it in the bolder colours.

Part of my work is looking for planning applications on the net (BORING!!!!!!) & my current search area takes in Rogers village. The whole application appeal is on the net. Seems he was issued with an enforcement notice last year ordering him to repaint it in a 'more sympathetic colour' which he obviously appealed against & the appeal has just been thrown out. :-)
He has got to return it to something more like the origional colour which i think was an off white or cream. Bet it wont be cheap!!

It depends, in some cases you dont need any permission to paint a house. Rogers house is a Grade 2 listed building in a conservation area & as such, it is subject to the rules & regulations of the Listed Buildings & Planning Act 1990. It has been a listed building since 1957 & the origins of the house can be traced back to 1246 so the local council considers that it is in need of 'protection' from inappropriate & unsympathetic works. If the council decides it is not in keeping with the style & history of the house, then they can order it to be re-painted again back to the original style. This seems to be what has happened in this case. :-)
Have just read this post back to myself & concluded i have a very sad life to be able to quote the planning acts without even looking it up! Note to self - Get out more!! lol

The lighter colour is actually a very pale primrose yellow rather than white. Its more in keeping with the Georgian style of the house that the planners want to preserve. This is actually my line of work & given the amount of changes that have happened to the house in its lifetime, i cant understand what the planners problem is. The house is nothing like the original from 1246, its had three extensions for a start! :-)

Well, Roger had four months from the 17th July to have it re-painted in a more sympathetic colour so it shouldnt be pink for much longer. Not sure if he has the grounds to appeal it again so he might well be getting the paintbrushes & ladders out now! :-)

LMAO, I LOVE the fact that he painted it pink. Now all that's missing is someone flying over his house and dumping glitter all over it.

Fairy lights too! Roger likes lights so he would probably like them too. This is really going against the guidelines of English Heritage now! :-)
