46664 Concerts is very disappointed to have been informed by Luis Alvarez, the promoter of the planned concert in Benidorm, 46664 Latino, that the event has been postponed. Queen were due to headline the event in Benidorm at Les Foietes Stadium on Saturday 21st August 2004. Check www.46664.com for further news. source: www.queenonline.comI am speechless about it and hope they have a really good reason and let us here this reason soon!

apparently the concert has been cancelled because only 600 tickets were sold. all the other artists were crap in my opinion, but i think the main problem was the price of the tickets...60 euros for a charity concert is too much!

You are right, Ellie, only 600 tickets have been sold. Which also seemed to be a reason the city of Benidorm withdraw their financial support. Apart from this I don't think that those 60 Euros held people back from buying them. But the poor promotion, not being able to order them online from outside Spain (phone ticket offices and collect them in person on Friday or Saturday and not have them sent home? What was that?). I also think that the organizers might have thought that tourists already being there would spontaneously (sp?) buy tickets while being there on holidays anyway. But the lack of international artists really was not a thing that helped this event...

in these days we don't have many chances to see brian & roger live,so i'm sure for queen fans the price of the ticket was not a problem (i can't talk for the fans of the other performers). ...all the other artists were spanish, they're almost unknown outside Spain,so i don't think that tourists would have been interested in this gig... you're right, the main problem was the lack of international artists...if the organizers plan to make this gig in the future, i think they should change almost all the cast.

i think they should change almost all the cast. Almost apart from Roger and Brian? No seriously, you are right if you say the ticket prices could have been a problem in general. And the artist that were going to participate were hardly known outside Spain. But what about Enrique Iglesias (I am not commenting on him!) or Shakira? Those were artists that were also announced. Could it be that they did not make up their minds and that caused the city of Benidorm to withdraw the financial support? You are also right on another point: IF this is going to be re-scheduled they should really think about international known musicians like they did in Cape Town just this time mixed with Latin American musicians. I do hope though that it will take place someday!
