Thanks Ellie for posting this. I hope you don't mind that I included it in today's news on the website... I haven't found anything about it as well. Hope so much it's true. And if it is and someone will go there please take your camera with you and take some pics. I don't care how bad they come out because of trembling hands and not be able to hold the camera properly ...

Hi Jenny, this is the Newsletter you were looking for: Dear Friends of the SASBand!
Las Vegas 9th September 2004
As I sit composing this little epic tome in my room at the Bally Hotel, I'm looking down on the gaudy electric wonderland that is Las Vegas Boulevard and reflecting on what a funny old life this is sometimes. One minute I'm in Gosport, wallowing in nostalgia for the `Smiling Hard' thirtieth anniversary show, quickly followed by the SAS tenth anniversary gig at glamorous Eastleigh. The following week it's off to Trinidad with the Fabba Girls for a weekend of hurricane-dodging (sometimes I don't think anyone really appreciates how much we musos suffer for our art!!)
Now, a month later, here I am in the `entertainment capital of the world' – no, not Gosport again! – where I've just participated in the opening-night festivities for the Queen Musical `We Will Rock You' at its Las Vegas Paris Casino debut.
What a night it has been! The show was fabulous, forty minutes shorter than the London original with no intermission and some song changes. It was slick, emotional and very funny. Ben Elton's script has been severely edited and reworked to make it `Septic- friendly'. It boasts a great cast, including our very own Patti Russo (she of the huge rocking voice) and the very talented Mr Tony Vincent, who made his impressive debut with us at Shepherd's Bush Empire earlier this year. The opening was very well received and a fab time was had by all.
My own contribution was to help organise a live performance by the assembled glitterati of musicians who turned up and wanted to play at the after-show party. The setting was pretty spectacular. A large stage with lighting and a massive PA system had been rigged outside next to the Paris Casino swimming-pool. A warm, Nevada evening made it a very pleasant place to be, although a breeze was blowing hot air in from the desert – but these small annoyances are sent to try us!
Our very own Chris Thompson played a fab opening set and I noticed a few SAS diehards down at the front giving him enthusiastic support. Our ensemble took to the stage at around 11.00pm with Roger Taylor, Eric Singer (Kiss, Alice Cooper), Chad Smith (Chilli Peppers) and Simon Phillips (The Who, Toto) sharing drum honours two at a time. Guitarists were Brian May, Steve Lukather (Toto), Nuno Bettancourt (Extreme) and guitar maestro Steve Vai, aided and abetted by Glen Hughes (Trapeze, Deep Purple) on bass and Meat Loaf on `supersize' vocals.
Various excellent singers and musos from the WWRY company were pressed into service playing and singing songs like `Tie Your Mother Down', `The Show Must Go On', `Don't Stop Me Now', `Stone Cold Crazy', `Rock & Roll', `With A Little Help From My Friends' and `Johnny B. Goode'.
I think that any witnesses present (well, those with any eardrums left) would agree that it was a large, wonderful, cacophonous wall of sound and a sonic experience that none of us will ever (be able to) forget! My ears are still ringing! For more info on the set, musicians and photos, go to Queenonline.com or any Queen website. In our attempt to keep up with the ever-changing world of technology (personally, I'm still not over the demise of the wax cylinder!) the SAS Band canon of recorded work is now available as legal downloads from various music sites including iTunes etc. You'll need a computer, an Mp3 player or iPod to make use of this service. See our website – www.sasband.com – for the latest info.
A major reason for having this facility is to make future recordings available sooner. Recording and pressing CDs is an expensive business and so has to be undertaken carefully and with consideration, which tends to limit the amount of material we can release. This new technology will allow us to record a lot more live gigs and quickly make the tracks downloadable so that you will be able to buy just the songs you like from the gigs you were at! That's the theory anyway. Watch this space!
Now to upcoming events:
This year's Chiddingfold – ta daahh!! – is to be extended to four shows … gasp! Thursday the 2nd to Sunday the 5th December. Look out for our special `Thursday' deal.
Monday, 6th December: a special charity show for the Rainbow Trust at the Clapham Grand (Clapham Junction, London) featuring Roger Taylor. Full information and ticket details will be available after 20th October from Lucysangster@a..., or send a stamped addressed envelope to Lucy Sangster, Manton House, Marlborough, SN8 1PN. See the Messageboard on our website for more information on the work of this very worthwhile children's charity.
Tuesday, 7th December: The Brook, Southampton. Newly reopened after a massive, luxurious re-vamp and makeover. Can't wait to see it!
The lovely Jill Davies will attach all you need to know regarding tickets and booking info.
So now it's time for me to pack my spotty hanky, attach it to my stick, leave the land of Liberace, Elvis and Celine !!! and make my weary way back to the real world.
Oh … and one other thing … by the time you read this, Kyle and I will be married!! More on that later.
Love,
SPIKE xoxoxox
That's the complete newsletter. There was a note attached from Jill (who seems to run the fanclub or official SAS website with details on all gigs EXCEPT for the date where Rog is rumoured to play.

Yeah, he seems very healthy, but I have to agree with Eliza, same clothes and same "thing". I prefer Roger's more casual look, like on the other thread (green trousers, black blouse, white t-shirt, cool shades!) Thanx for posting Brigitte!

Of course I still want him! Even if just for shaving and dressing... Seriously, he could make himself looking years younger by getting rid of that THING!
