A few weeks ago we were discussing Innuendo, if it was written by Roger or not. Do you remember? I think it was Brigitte who quoted someone (at QOL?) who said that the song couldn't possibly have been written by Roger, cause it was too poetically complicated... Well, today I stumbled over an Italian site, on which all writers of the last three Queen albums were mentioned: www.duckhouse.it/funny_business.htmScroll down to the bottom of the page, and what do we see: Roger did write Innuendo! LOL Nonsense or not??

I still doubt that. The other source was also quite relieable, I think it was sebastians site (queenconcerts.com). I think Roger wrote much of the lyrics, but Innuendo itself would be really fairly untypical for Roger. But know what? It's for sure that he wrote "These are the days of our lives", wich I love far more than Innuendo. It's so a lovely (and sad) song and I admire Roger for penning it.

I'm not sure about Innuendo but it's soooo obvious he wrote TATD. I honestly don't think that the lyrics are about Freddie though. Hmmmmmm..........I guess we shall never know or make it another mission to ask him at the gigs!!

I guess we shall never know or make it another mission to ask him at the gigs!! OK, Jenny... ask him after the Brixton gig, ok? Seriously, I think exactly the same. It's just a fact I think that if you reach a certain age that life *seemed* to be more simple, etc. when you were younger. It's a bit melancholic (sp?) but not sad, more thoughtful. I love it!

Brian said TATD was about Freddie saying goodbye.

nope don't agree with him. I mean yes after Freddie died you could think that, but I reckon it's about Mr T and his love life. The words fit and like Brigitte said it is melancoly but not sad and very thoughtful.

While the sun hangs in the sky and the desert has sand While the waves crash in the sea and meet the land While there’s a wind and the stars and the rainbow Till the mountains crumble into the plain Oh yes we’ll keep on tryin’
Tread that fine line Oh we’ll keep on tryin’ yeah Just passing our time While we live according to race, colour or creed While we rule by blind madness and pure greed Our lives dictated by tradition, superstition, false religion Through the eons, and on and on Oh yes we’ll keep on tryin’
We’ll tread that fine line Oh we’ll keep on tryin’
Till the end of time Till the end of time
Through the sorrow all through our splendour Don’t take offence at my innuendo
You can be anything you want to be Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be Be free with your tempo, be free be free Surrender your ego - be free, be free to yourself
Oooh, ooh - If there’s a God or any kind of justice under the sky If there’s a point, if there’s a reason to live or die If there’s an answer to the questions we feel bound to ask Show yourself - destroy our fears - release your mask Oh yes we’ll keep on trying Hey tread that fine line Yeah we’ll keep on smiling yeah And whatever will be - will be We’ll just keep on trying We’ll just keep on trying Till the end of time Till the end of time Till the end of time
I have just posted the lyrics so that it is for us to see what you are trying to say.

What do you say it's sad? Do you think they keep on trying without success?

Jazz, please re-read the thread, I think you missed a part of it... I don't think Brian said that TATD was about Freddie saying goodbye, it's the last video of him and at the end he said: "I still love you" to his fans. That's the sad thing, but the song is exactly about what Brigitte said.
