Yeah I love Hot Space too!!!
Most Americans don't really know Queen as far as I know. We tried asking some people in New York when we were there and they only knew We are the Champions

Don't get me wrong - I kinda like "Hot space"...it's funky after all, and I like funk...but every time I listen to the live version of "Staying power" (or some other songs from it), they sound SO much better. The album was supposed to be "hot" but I find it a little more "cold" than other Queen releases...it's just something about the sound of it, you know . As for the american audience - a lot of successful english artists seem to have a hard time with it. Robbie Williams, for example, is a star everywhere but in America. Queen had his huge american success in the '70s though...maybe because they were more "heavy rock oriented" back then (but what about Freddie's harmonies?) when heavy rock ruled. I don't know...I was also wondering about this "Eminem intro" they are playing lately. Is it a trick to win the young american audience??? What's Eminem got to do with Queen??? (Yes, I know Rog said he likes him to a certain extent - but...). Sorry, wrong thread for this, but here I was and the thought just came...

The American market seems to be a hard one to crack for some people, and yes Robbie Williams is a great example of that.

That's right. I think it's mainly because the US market is very much reigned by those rap/hip/hop shit.

me neither crap!!! The Eminim thing sounds like a really weird choice until you listen to the lyrics of the bit they play and it actually makes loads of sense! it is a great song and I think brilliant way to open the show. I don't think it was to win over the American's coz they did it here too and I don't think it was to get younger audiences coz they are doing that anyway and you would only know about it if you went to the gig and therefore be won over anyway ha ha! Ahhh I am thinking a Brian idea is a good one no I am not an MID!!!!

Also younger fans who liek Queen are unlikely to like Eminim anyway!
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime.....

Although I'm not into Hip/Hop and Eminem's stuff in general, I kinda like the show opener "Lose yourself".

I don´t like Hip Hop and Rap either. I don´t know why but I like Eminem. The texts are intense and partly sexist , I know but I like the sound/melodies. I think "Lose Youself" is a great opener.

Eminem's bearable, but I really can't stand 50 Cent!
