To be honest I didn't stick around long enough to find out and give them the benefit of the doubt

Ok, so yesterday I saw MerQury. They played at a "Stadtfest" I was going to anyway. The program said they'd concentrate more on the older Queen stuff and the singer would sound exactly like Freddie.
I have to say I didn't like them too much. It wasn't completely the bands fault though. They were 20 minutes late in starting. In the beginning there were two older women standing in front of me. They kept a distance of half a meter to the people in front of them and when they band began to play, they put their fingers into their ears, and one didn't move a bit - I guess they weren't really rock concert audience type. And during Radio Ga Ga some guy very nearly groped me from behind. Anway. The singer tried to be a Freddie look-alike, complete with costumes. And most of the time they kept very close to the record. Two things I don't like too much. Older songs? Well, they played Killer Queen and Tie Your Mother Down. But all in all only "Greatest Hits". They did a bass solo during Another One Bites The Dust, which was slightly too long. They did a nice interlude during Radio Ga Ga though, playing some other rock songs in it, like Enter Sandman, Smoke On The Water, Highway To Hell, etc. That was really fun. I think they totally ruined it (at least for me) though when they had this lengthy, lengthy drum solo. It was just plain boring. It went on for ten minutes, I think, it felt like half an hour. I was even more annoyed by it because I had to leave for the train about 15 minutes later. I nearly left at that point. I wouldn't have missed too much - they only played three songs after it, WWRY (which I just found boring at that point), Champions and as an encore The Show Must Go On. Honestly - a drum solo at the end of the concert? Totally misplaced, if you ask me.
Well, it wasn't quite as bad as I make it sound. I had some fun and banged my head a lot. ;D I also took pictures - will post some here when they're uploaded.

Glad you had a good time even if you didn't really enjoy the band x

I saw MerQry 3 or 4 weeks ago, too. I went there with J., tobi and my nephew. Mianly the kids enjoyed it very much, but I had fun, too. Okay, they aren´t as good as Queen Kings, but they did not too bad. I enjoyed the bass solo very much, the guy was very funny. The drum solo was in deed a bit long, but as a mother of a little drummer I´m used to that. ;D What annoyed me was the fact, that the singer didn´t know the lyrics quite well. Mainly at the beginning he failed a lot.

Queen Kings are good? I think they're here in the Irish Pub sometime in winter...

I saw them 2 times now and yes, I think they are really good. They don´t dress like Queen or Freddie but the singer, Mirko, has an incredible voice!

Hm. Wasn't Mirko the one from MayQueen?

Was. Yes. MayQueen split up. The guitarist is still MayQueen with other musicians, Mirko and the rest founded KingQueens.

Ah, good to know. Thanks, maybe I'll go to see them.
Btw, don't know whether you know this already, but I think they're amazing:

Did not go and see MayQueen in the local pub yesterday. Simply was too tired.
I plan to go see The Queen Kings next Saturday at a local open air festival though.
