lol why not? One example. Last year, there was a little girl aged 8 or 9. She sang a song about a crocodile called "Schnappi". A kiddie song. First the song was available as ringtone then it went straight to Nr. 1 and remained there for almost 10 weeks!!!! Everywhere you went, Schnappi got you. There was no escape.

Great we are probably gonna get that with the bloody frog then grrrrrrr.......... We even had Nr. 1 songs, developing from just one stupid word or sentence. Once our cancellor Schröder said someting about wanting a bottle of beer and another guy (Stefan Raab) made a song out of it wich also went on Nr. 1.....

Did it get to number 1 in other countries? :)Ehm..not yet, thank God!! :)But we've Blue as no 1,that's enough,I think!! :-/Then U2 I think, that's an excellent choice, for my tastes! ;)Talking about Queen :do you know why Radio Gaga reached no 1 here in Italy?Because it was the signature tune of Discoring, the Italian version of Top of the pops in the 80's..Power of commercials!!

Commercials have always helped songs get more famous than what they should be - look at the flippin frog for example!!
