I hope it's all sorted and goes well, Brigitte. I do a loz on ebay, selling and buying. Only two bad experiences so far (with more than 230 transactions) and those went ok. One time the seller had put in the books twice and only had one. And one time DVD I bought was an illegal copy, but once I told the seller I could give it back and recieved the money back (with postage). But you always have to be careful.

ooooooooo a seller - do you have any tips about selling coz I do think about doing it but I'm not sure I often thought about it too. I would have to sell a lot of things, mainly toys. But it seems so damn complex to me. ;D Taking pics of all the stuff, upload them somehow, watching the whole auction, hoping for a good price, sending when hopefully cashed... and the big question: How on earth should I know how much the postage is?

The german post has an information book in which all prices are. with that you can simply decide how much dispatch is necessary.

You can ask me if you got problems with calculating the postage. I've sold hundreds of items over the years. If it's not too big and too heavy, "Warensendung" is the best way to send items favourable. Otherwise you should go for "Päckchen", wich is not insured but cheaper than "Paket".

The English post also will have information books, in whiche the prices are listed. In Germany you can get them in every post office. Isn´t it so in UK?

Well, I mainly sell books, sometimes clothes. Books you can send as "Büchersendung" - a special low price for sending books. But you have to leave the envelope open (you can put those small metal things thorugh the holes but you can't paste it). Clothes sometimes go into a normal big letter. I often use used envelopes from the things I bought on ebay. ;D Else you have to add the cost for the envelope to the postage costs. I like to describe my things very well, so people know quite well what they're gonna get. I happened a few times that I had to pay more or less than I thought for postage.
It does take some time doing all of it and it's not always worth it. Taking photos, weighing, describing, looking for the right envelope...

UK postage is based on weight of the object. To find out how much it would cost to post you weigh it. Remeber to weigh the item you want to post and all the packaging. Once you know how much it weighs you need to go to this website: www.royalmail.com/link/link?catId=400145&mediaId=1400061Where you put in the weight. It will then tell you how much it will cost to post. It will often give a number of options depending on how fast you want the item to arrive, if you want a signiture on delivery, if you want to be able to track the item, and if you need any sort of postal insurance. I tend to add a quid or so to the price shown on the website as i think the prices in it are slightly out of date.
