Shrove Tuesday is the term used in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada to refer to the day after Shrove Monday (or the more old fashioned Collop Monday) and before Ash Wednesday (the liturgical season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday). It is also known as Pancake Day or Pancake Tuesday, because it is customary to eat pancakes on this day. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrove_Tuesday

oh very good Sarah Basically! Lent is a religious thing where you fast for forty days i think it used to be cxoz Jesus did once or something (sorry to all christians who actually know what I am on about haha) Shrove Monday is where you eat all left over meat in your cupboards and make a meal out of it so you have nothying left for lent and Shrove Tuesday is where you use everything else out of your cupboard this used to be in olden times flour, milk and eggs so created pancakes! These days it is another marketing tool to buy prepacked pancakse mixes and jif lemons lol! I fall for it every year and love the tradition! I had mine on saturday though so I could start my diet on monday! haha
