I just spend hours to read this whole thread on the QOL message board. It is so funny at times that I couldn't stop laughing. So if you are bored have a look: ;D forums.queenonline.com/viewtopic.php?t=36333&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=Here's a nice example and one that saved my day. Writer of this post is typincs - definately for me he/she is making the funniest comments: Tricky! Tricky! If you want to rob a bank, choose this multi-colour outfit because it confuses the witnesses. It's a really hard work to remember all these things! The pink striped black jacket is a story worth on its own, but how it matches with the red shirt. The composition is not complete tough without the tie which was made of two other ties. It shows that cutting ties in pieces is a very important spare time activity of Roger's. So in the video of 'I'm going slightly mad' it wasn't a weird image, it was documentary footage when Roger cuts John's tie. It's a pity that in this pic he put two not-matching ones together. Ok, the trousers are very thight. Fabric? Please take a look at his shoes. I can't imagine a situation when these shoes would fit. Maybe if you want to tell the world: I wear what I want.
(Thanks to Chiclevic for this rare pic.)

I had a QUICK flick through. Stuff looks funny looking back. But it was not so mad at the time. People talk about their costumes for Bo Rhap but as a teenager I never even thought much about the costumes Queen were wearing back then - it was just them, and it coincided with the spirit of the era when most of the stars were wearing stuff along those lines, although not exactly the same. But we teenagers certainly didn't consider it outrageous. Furthermore, the eighties was responsible for some appalling taste - I even think sometimes that at the height of the Cold War it was a subconscious cry from the Capitalist world against the drabness of Communism.

I even think sometimes that at the height of the Cold War it was a subconscious cry from the Capitalist world against the drabness of Communism. Interesting thought. I was too young back then to remember communist times, but I know from my parents tales that indeed everything was grey and monotonous. And You couldn't just go to a shop and buy something more cheerful beacuse of the one simple reason there wasn't anything. For example, if you needed shoes you first did reconnaissance to know in what shop, and in what time there was gonna be a deliver of those shoes. Then, you stood up in a queue for 12 hours or even 1 day to get this shoes. But despite of this, you never wasn't sure if the size of the shoes you got would suit you. There wasn't time to check this. If the size didn't match, you searched somebody who had the size you wanted and would like to exchange. Of course, those shoes had usually poor quality. And that was with everything you wanted to get! Thank God it is over now... But I'm boring you with these tales and it isn't the subject of this thread. Sorry...

I quote from my own website - written about 2 and a half years ago, when recalling my three months in East Germany in 1983:
Mostly, those who were allowed to travel to the west were pensioners - retired people whose useful working life was over. However, I met one girl who was a little younger than me who fell into this category due to illness. She went to visit relatives in the west, and told me an interesting story. It had to do with the fact that, although just about everything was available in the 'GDR', there was a lack of variety and/or scarcity of some items. Her western relatives suggested that she buy some saucepans for her family back home. But on going into the supermarket, there was such a range of saucepans, she was unable to choose, and came out with her money unspent. She'd had a crisis of choice brought about by the fact that such items came into East German shops so rarely that they were normally snapped up within minutes. This was echoed by some of my fellow students, who were studying English but finding it almost impossible to find a decent English-German dictionary. They found it amazing that I could go into a bookshop in the UK and pick up a large Collins at any time - they didn't run out!

Sorry to be a pain in the neck and I do appreciate your input but.... P.S. There's always a way to discuss that in the NON-RT section, personal, etc. Thank you!

No need to be sorry... I just wanted to start a funny discussion and suddenly we end up discussing that matter. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind about it at all - just rather in another thread.
