There have been lots of talking about Queen's involvement in WWRY and how fantastic the band was. But I actually think there have been too little focus on the acutal story of the musical. Don't get me wrong, I'm of course interested in Queen's involvement and loved the band, but I just want to know what you RMT fans out there thought of the theatre, the script and such too.   |

You know, I like theatre in a general sence of this word, I mean a "classic" theatre. I enjoy much opera, ballet, good plays, but for the musicals.... the same as Roger, I don't understand that style.  Sorry, if I hurt someone with this. I didn't watched WWRY live, only fragments on TV, so my opinion may be not correct. All I liked from it were the costumes - they're COOL!  I like this style I would like to say that I would prefer WWRY as an opera, not as a musical. Well, maybe some day one day we'll see it? |

Of course you don't hurt someone with it! You said yourself that "the OWN opinion is the best", right? I never really had the full WWRY experience either, since I had never heard Bohemian Rhapsody when I saw it. It's strange but true. In fact, it was WWRY that made me start listening to Queen in the first place. I found the story quite childish, though very funny, and after listening to Queen afterwards I thought that the WWRY versions of them could have been much better. But I totally fell in love with the love story between the two main roles, Scaramouche and Gallilleo. So now I've started to write WWRY fanfiction with lots of other Queen songs. I thought some of the songs were performed by the wrong characters, and some were even unnessecary, while many love songs would have fitted perfectly in particular scenes. |

The only other show I've seen in a theatre was Blood Brothers (which is flippin good) but it's not really something that would be compared to WWRY.
So when I saw WWRY for the first time I enjoyed it immensly. The script is so stupid it's very funny. The cast were fab, and the songs just make it for me!! ;D

I still love it. Watched it several times now. I've seen most of the famous musicals already (Cats, Starlight Express, Phantom of the Opera etc...) and WWRY is my fave one not only because of the fact I'm a Queen fan, but also because it simply rocks!!!  |

Some days ago I wathced WWRY (Russian version) on amator video. OMG, what a dumb tanslation of my favorite songs!!! Even a kid can do better. But other thing in the musical I liked very much. Good actors, perfect dancing. But translation...  |

I don't think the intention was to do the translation word for word. It's more to explain the characters like the Killer Queen. The German translation is similar to the original though.

Good actors, perfect dancing. But translation... It's a shame to hear that. Certainly, the musical ran for only a limited time in Moscow. I don't know what consultations might have gone on about the translation there. With regard to what Eliza said about the German, there appears to have been more of a 'hands-on' attitude with the translations. I understand that Ben Elton is conversant with German. Brian certainly remembers enough from his 'O' level classes - even though he allegedly played scant attention in them, preferring to teach a classmate about the guitar during the lessons instead. ;D |
