I found this on Brian's website. Very amusing. ;D
p14 WE WILL SHOCK YOU
QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor has declared himself unimpressed with the Electric Six's video for their cover of 'Radio Ga Ga'. Electric Six frontman Dick Valentine had revealed to Kerrang! that he hoped the surviving members of Queen would see the funny side to the video, which sees a Spandex-clad Valentine dancing on the late Freddie Mercury's grave. "There was about a 10-second window when we thought we'd offend everybody," admitted Valentine, "but at the end of the day, you go for it and you get a restraining order if needs be." Kerrang! sent the video to Taylor who penned the hit song. "How brave," he responded after viewing it. "Thanks for the money." Somehow we don't think he'll be seeing much in the way of royalties...

I KNEW IT!! All he's thinking about is the money lol ;D To be honest with you I don't like the video either. Okay it probably is just poking fun but really Freddie dancing on his grave is just not very nice. The song's not bad, but I just can't stand the video

The song can't be that bad. You know who penned it. For my case it's very simple. I can't stand the majority of all cover versions, regardless wich band/song. There are just some very few I actually like.

The problem with all cover versions is that the original is ALWAYS better. Name one cover version you choose over the original version? I thought hard about it, but couldn't come up with one.

I don't find one either. Btw, did you know it exists a techno version of "Bicycle race"? Done by a German singer called Blümchen. Well "singer" is a bit exaggerated I admit.

I just loved his comment on this cause it's so Roger! I did not have a look at the video yet because in the office I cannot play it and at home as well (still have to install all the programmes that are missing ). But I'll trust your judgements, ladies!

Tiger you asked about which cover versions are better than the original well I would have to say Travis's version of Baby Hit Me One More Time (you know the Britney track)

Uh, I kinda liked Faith no more's version of "Easy", although I have a soft spot for Lionel Richies voice.

Personal opinion? The video is tacky. I don't doubt why Roger said what he did! And the song is weak, especially when compared to Queen.
Remakes I like better than the original..."Goodbye Ruby Tuesday" by the Corrs, and "Life On Mars" by The Divine Comedy-in spite of my love for Bowie!
