Personally I do get angry where people say I have bought all their albums and paid for their liefstyle so therefore I have the right to take what I want and tell them what to do! eg people who yell about the use of the Queen name.
I think the only power we have as fans no matter how dedicated is if they do something we disagree with don't buy the records! what do you lot think?

I totally agree. That thing with using the Queen name is really a bit strange. I mean, no-one says anything when "One night of Queen" or whoever play Queen songs on concerts and use the name Queen for it. Why are the people against it when it involves half of the original Queen?  I just bought an onld fanclub magazine (winter 94) on ebay and on the issue before that someone seems to have complained that the fanclub is not standing in for the fans rights but doing charity instead. Or something like that, I don't know the original letter. In the winter issue then there were a lot of answers and a big discussion going on. I wish they would release old material but I don't have a right (and don't want it) to say what music to make and what to release. It's just me being curious, I want to see how they looked, how they played, etc. Someone in the magazine put it like this: "My love of Queen came about from the music they HAD released, not music that I would have liked them to release". On the other hand I don't think that collectors should be a reason not to release things. Like "oh, if this is released the value of whatever I have will decrease" - I think that's a very selfish way to think. Sorry, I have mixed things up a bit, I hope you understand what I wanted to say. |

Trina, you are right here. As Brian and Roger are the only members of Queen actually doing anything, it is totally up to them what they chose to do (along with Jim Beach I expect) to decide what to release and what they use the name for. And can you imagine us ever not buying the records?!!!  We can make petitions etc like they seem to do on QOL and submit them but the band can chose to ignore that and do what they like! |

yeah completly understood you and yes I think we can campaign in a fun way saying i'd love to hear this and that but even then would we actaully want to hear it really!?
The beatles did an anthology which is great and you can hear loads of John Lennon having a laugh in the studio etc etc but if they did this with Queen they are releasing stuff that they all agreed they didn't want the fans to hear and usually for good reason coz they are perfectionists but at the same time I would love to hear it! it's very private stuff though really!
I don't care if releasing it makes the value of something decrease I collect because I want to own it it's not the value that matters I'm never selling it anyway!

How's that for a start? ;D And never responded so far. I asked him for used socks to match the velvet trousers and the speedo's, but never got any reply.   ;D |

LOL I really wanted to write him an email sometime. Thank him for coming to Basel (no one ever does concerts around here  ). And telling him how decent we were in Cologne. And then I made this Queen hologram in a workshop at university. I thought if any of the band accidentally has a laser at home - it's Brian. Then he just needs a little screen on which he can project the image with his computer and then put the laser through it and then he can see it: "Queen". |
