That's true! Though he never regarded it as such.

I just think I am disappointed he now wants us to believe it was tongue in cheek and not meant serious at the time he wrote it. How else can you interprete these words: And the guy who was MC-ing the event (Suggs, the singer from Madness) introduced me with a sad old joke about my and Anita's hair. Ha frigging ha. How disappointing people can be. It really makes you not want to bother.. (quoted without permission!) Honestly, I think he's a brilliant musician and certainly a nice guy and caring and all, but his soapbox or blog or whatever sometimes is more then I can handle!

Well, rock stars are humans, too, with human faults. I guess we just expect them to behave in public. I mean, surely Brian can get on our nerves sometimes, but isn't that just normal? That's the problem with his soapbox - it's very direct, no cencoring, no monitoring from other people. edit: hey, perhaps I should blog about it.

Do that. When I first discovered Bri's soapbox, I was thrilled to see a guitar god interacting with his fans. Now it makes me cringe, nearly every time I check by, seeing new entries on the site by the man himself. I really appreciate when he talks about Queen things, the Red Special, the musical and so on, but he would do better if he would stop posting what's on his mind. Or IF he post his rants, he should have the guts to stick by what he wrote. That comment about Suggs was definitely not tongue-in-cheek and everyone of his readers noticed that. To say now it was not meant to be nasty is defintely not true. I'm very dissapointed by this attitude.

Has anyone read the article?? It says:- Poodle - permed rocker Brian May has slammed Madness star Suggs after the singer publicily mocked him and his wife Anita Dobson at a tribute event. The Queen guitarist was attending a dinner in London in honour of his road manager Robbie Williams when Suggs invited the rocker onto the stage to say a few words. Brian, 59, was then incensed when Suggs raised a few laughs among the audience by poking fun at May and his famous actress wife's hair. "He introduced me with a sad old joke about my and Anita's hair", complains May. "Ha, ha! How dissapointing people can be. It really makes you not want to bother. Next time, I'll stay at home." Poor Brian! what I love about this is the first line... he is complaining that Suggs insulted his hair so the newspaper decide to start the line off "poodle permed .." lol! how to rub salt in the wound! haha

It's definitely an ink stamp I believe upon close inspection....I don't mind The Soap Box...sometimes his opinions are a little out there..and sometimes I think he's right on..I tend to fly off at the mouth myself....if someone had insulted me or my family at something I would have been mad too.....sure he retracted but when we react on impulse we sometimes ourselves look at it later and cringe....Anyway...I'm sure my own little "soapbox" on myspace people think I'm goofy sometimes LOL but I don't care..because that's how I feel at the time I write something..and later my mind or opinion might change..I assume it's the same for Brian....after all it's his site...I guess he can say what he wants right? ;D

I have no problem with him ranting at all we all get upset sometimes irrationally and need to vent our opinions and shout and scream! I don't mind him having opinions and I don't mind him ranting on his soapbox what I hate is the fact he will rant and rant sometimes upsetting us out here and then he won't open it to a debate or even acknowledge other peoples opinions and usually just says things like oh well it was tongue in cheek don't get too upset! call that an apology!!!! grrrrrr
