Yeah, as many of you I adore HAPPINESS? because - it is GREAT - it is WISE - "Everybody hurts somrtimes" has a private sence for me - "Old friends" is the best tribute to Freddie (IMHO) - "Revelations" is about Ukraine!!! I wonder, had ever Roger been in my country? - A poster with an album cover was my first poster of RT - it's a good music to think about life and to found the right answer

Well, he states at the beginning of the song 'Revelations': "I went to the Ukraine" so I think he was!

Aha, and his "Fun in space" is also autobiographic album At the press conference in Kiev all the QPR's told that it's their first trip to Ukraine. So maybe it was a VERY private and secret visit, if it really was. In other way, in 1993-94 Ukraine was a poorest country in Europe and everyone knew it. A good example for a good song.

Of course not every song or lyric is autobiographic, but for example take "Old friends". And some lyrics are based on Roger's observations eg. "Nation of haircuts", "People on streets". So in my opinion "Revelations" was having that kind of lyrics. BUT! of course I could be wrong. I'm not infallible person. At the QPR's conference, maybe they meant the first trip to Ukraine as a band. And I'm really guessing as I haven't seen that conference. LOL!

My Mom watched the conference, because I was in the train to Kharkov at that moment. Brian had regret that they had few time to see Kiev, only by the way from the airport to the conference hall. And then he said that would be good to get to Kiev next spring just for a walk. Of course I'm not so naive to believe, but I hope he wasn't joking. After the first visit may come the second... Yes, this is my official invitation - Roger, Brian, Paul, come to Ukraine anytime you want, it is fun country! I'll be waiting... The same for you, girls!

Thanks for the invitation ;D Now we only have to find out, if and when they will come. Official spring time means something about 90 days.... to be there at the right time and at the right place (Kiev is big, isn´t it? ) may be a challenge. Plus we need to know at which daytime they prefer to walk. ;D ;D

Ha, I know you're kidding, Cooper, but mission IS POSSIBLE. 1) I know the place. -Kiev has only 2 hotels of the best level. -Then, we have ONLY ONE souvenir market for the VIP tourists (Milla Yovovich, A-ha, Enrique Iglesias and other celebreties were there, 'cause there's nowhere else to go). To run all the churches and cathedrals is a hard work, so I'll be waiting for the guys there. -Only 1 airport!!! 2) The date....hm... well, everyone, even a very famous one must pass the custom control, right? The one left to do is to found a right guy in airport's custom servise and to pay for the proper information.... One problem: I don't know this right guy Oh, what a beautiful plan it was... P.S.: Of course, I'm joking, don't take my words close to heart!

Well, better lately than never! I've got full text of the QPR's press conference from Kiev, on September, 11. Folks from ukrainian fan club were on it and recorded everything on a dictophone, then translated into Russian. Unfortunataly I don't have the text in original, so I translated the most interesting moment back in English for you. Here it is. RT was asked about the origin of the "Revelations" in which he sings "I went to the Ukraine". This is what he replied: "I was here many years ago, when me and my friends came to the Carpathians. It was some kind of crazy, we were at the end of geography. I remember that it was cold, we didn't know where to go. But people were fantastic and so hospitable"So this the answer to my question: Roger really visited my country!!! I suppose he came in 1992-94 before the realise of "Happiness?" (logically, isn't it?) not earlier. He couldn't do that before USSR stopped to exist. And I think the folks came to ski 'cause ukrainian Carpathians have many interesting and really wild hills. It's amazing when I think that I could ski on the same hills (but 15 years after )

Such a great little quote! Shame we cannot listen to the recordings... But great to know he was there - though I never doubted it.
