I now live in England until new year! It's for my studies, but I don't mind being a little closer to the fire either So I am thinking of going to a SASband Christmas party. Is it any good?

It would be cool if we could go with a bunch of Rogerettes!! SAS Christmas parties have been held at the Bisley Pavillions in Bisley, Surrey for the last few years. Well worth going to, you never know if a certain gorgeous drummer might be there. Last time i went to Bisley, i got the bonus of Roger & Felix but that was back in 2006. Last years party was held in January this year(!!) & Roger & Rufus were there. All we want now is Roger, Felix & Rufus!! :-) Date of the SAS christmas party is usually around the first or second weekend in December but last year was put back to January because of the Queen & PR tour.

A certain gorgeous drummer sounds pretty good to me! And in December I'll be still around. Anyone else thinking of going?

It does get very loud when Roger turns up but they dont tend to announce him on the bill until very close to the date & when you have seen the SAS band as often as i have, it tends to be a bit samey unless Roger is there. SAS band is still brilliant but i dont get the buzz from it that i used to. In the days of both Paul Young's, Fish, Mark Shaw, Damon Hill & Leo Sayer, it was absolute magic but when its people like Toyah it just doesnt have the appeal for me. I think what really got to me was at the last Xmas Party back in January, i was wearing my Paul Young (Mike & The Mechanics) Tribute T-shirt from 2000 & someone asked me if he was appearing!!! He died in July 2000 & SAS band hasnt been the same since. Still good, just not exceptional magic. :-)
Just out of interest, anyone know whats happened to Mark Shaw?

Well, in January it was Jeff Scott Soto, Patti Russo, Graham Gouldman & Toyah Wilcox. Roger came on at the end & made it worthwhile being there. The most recent gig was in Gosport in July & it was Chris Thompson, Fish, Paul Young & some other bloke but no Roger. :-(

Chris Thompson, Fish, Paul Young Oh, but that doesn't sound bad.

I love Chris Thompson & Fish in particular & Paul Young is always good to feast your eyes on but its just not as good as it used to be. If you havent seen them before, you will really enjoy it but unless Roger is a dead cert, i wont be going.

I had an email from the SAS Band yesterday. Date for the Xmas party is Dec 19th (late this year, usually around the 11th Dec cos thats Spikes birthday!) at Bisley Pavilions. They are also doing 2 other gigs on 16th & 17th elsewhere. If anyone is planning to go on the 19th, i would advise you to get your tickets booked fast as they are only doing 1 night this year instead of the usual 2 so it will probably sell out VERY fast. Check out www.sasband.com for ticket sellers. I might see you there, my Dad is buying me a ticket in case i decide to go! :-)
