Perhaps all this would fit better in the "arrogant Roger" section. *hides* Just kidding. I haven't seen the bonus stuff yet. Not sure if I will even buy the dvd now. I'd also be interested in what Bri's got to say. I thought it would be great to see the first backstage footage since Wembley, but now I have a different feeling...

I have to say I only watched it as far as Michelle and didn't pay much attention to Roger, although I did spot Sarina on there! I really loved the Japan gig too!

I watched some bits of it yesterday, as a friend coincidentally saw the dvd in a Dutch store! And couldn't resist buying ofcourse, despite the 50 euro's... Anyway, I was a bit dissapointed about the bonusmaterial(well, not as much as Brigitte) but the concert itself rocks definately!!! Which is by the way not a guarantee I will buy it any time soon.

I saw both DVD´s yesterday night and I totally agree with Brigitte! My thoughts were exactly the same in same same order you wrote. So I spare me from writing down the same thoughts but one thing I want to shout out: ROGER, WHAT DO YOU MEAN WITH OLD PEOPLE?? Who do you think that you are? I was damn angry last night when I heard this. And I still am. This was the most annoying thing for me.

OK, I can't really say anything about it because I DIDN'T see/hear it - and I'm sure he came across as you said, or 2 die-hard fans like you wouldn't have had that strong impression. And I'm sure I could get the same one if I should see the footage myself. But maybe - I say MAYBE - he was feeling relieved because Queen are not just a relic from the past, but they're still winning new people...It must be disappointing - or better, sad - to think that you can't achieve new goals anymore. And maybe - I say MAYBE again - it's exactly because Roger KNOWS he's not young anymore that he craves for young people...they make him feel that it's not over yet... Just my thoughts and my little attempt at cheering you people up . (You know I'm "old" myself!!! ;D).

This "indifferent" look that you describe made me think about the Pavarotti & Friends (where Brian made a lot of contact with people from the stage, while Roger just sang - that was and still is my impression - and without even a smile...) and Roger's appearance at the italian program "Maurizio Costanzo Show" where he left the stage as soon as the song was over, without a single smile or gesture or whatever...not even a nod at the audience...maybe they were disappointing in some way, but...it was sad . Roberta, I wanted to comment on the “Maurizio Costanzo Show” for some time now. There was an interview before the actual performance and as far as I remember (I only saw it once or twice) there was an interview where the show host talked with an Italian musician and totally ignored Roger (similar but worse to the Music Station in Japan). So he had “a reason” somehow to be pissed off. As far as the Pavarotti and Friends thing: Yes, he came over quite arrogant but more to cover his insecurity – at least that’s what I thought. I'm surprised, also, that the DVD shows Sarina a lot. His former partners NEVER featured in videos, if not "en passant"...(...Well, I mean, Debbie did, but for obvious "clip reasons"...). Correction: Debbie was with him a lot on stage when The Cross started. She even was one of the background singers on a couple of TV appearances. Though I don’t know if she actually could sing at all. She wasn’t doing that on the first tour. There were just these two professional background singers (that were very nice!). But accompanied him to all of the gigs in Germany. Perhaps all this would fit better in the "arrogant Roger" section. *hides* Just kidding. No need to hide, Eliza. ;D You are right but technically it’s impossible. You cannot move single posts of one thread to another one! I haven't seen the bonus stuff yet. Not sure if I will even buy the dvd now. I'd also be interested in what Bri's got to say. I thought it would be great to see the first backstage footage since Wembley, but now I have a different feeling... Maybe you see it completely different cause you are a MID. Should you get the DVD I am sure you want to see it! I have to say I only watched it as far as Michelle and didn't pay much attention to Roger, although I did spot Sarina on there! I really loved the Japan gig too! It’s hard not to spot Sarina on it. It’s really rubbed in! ;D ;D ;D Regarding Michelle: I think it would have been nice, if they put her name on the "subtitle" - not just Queen fan from Norway! Anyway, I was a bit dissapointed about the bonusmaterial (well, not as much as Brigitte) but the concert itself rocks definately!!! Which is by the way not a guarantee I will buy it any time soon. Correction: I was not disappointed but really angry or annoyed. Though I just loved the concert. Totally different camera angles (Queenie thought they were weird!) form the one that was on the version from queenzone. Great minds think alike !!! I am also still angry…. (though the gig cheered me up a bit!) P.S. I am a quote wizard!!! ;D ;D ;D

Well, it wasn't the audience's fault if that stupid host ignored Roger - but I can understand his reaction! As for the interview with Yoshiki - LOL! poor Rog! he looked really lost (and had a right to it!). Yes, that's what I meant talking about "obvious clip reasons" - "Breakthru", "Cowboys"...But there isn't any footage of her apart from those, I think...? offstage things, I mean. Not that there was a real reason for having them .

So he did drag her into the limelight for obvious reasons! ;D Ha ha! Well done on the quotes! Wasn't Debbie in Cowboys and Indians too? Thanks Sarah! ;D Yes she was. Wasn't that the incident that started it all? I remember reading he saw her in that flake spot and wanted her for the video. Could be wrong though.

@ Roberta: maybe you´re right that he´s relieved and happy about reaching younger people and maybe it came over a bit harsher than he intended to. Maybe I am/was too narrow minded last night and this morning. *sigh* But at least that´s what I felt. Maybe it´s different when I watch it for the second time one day But you´re right: this could be an explanation und excuse @ the quote wizard Brigitte: The gig cheered me up too, esp. "These are the days"

(...sigh, we people around 40, so useless ...NOT!!! ;D).

I must say I was not seeing it any other way then the day before. I think Roberta gave a very good explanation (thank you!) as maybe why there's this "despereate need" to reach younger audiences, apart selling more records of course. But it was also the way *how* he came across in all those interview clips (obviously all filmed on one day) AND backstage. I really found he came across as the super rich cool "I don't care two fucks about anything" rock star that put me off! E.g. when he talked about Budapest and how shitty (twice) and shit it was in the 80's and that it seems to be vibrant now, etc. Or when he and Sarina looked down the balcony to spot fans outsite and he said something like "uh-oh" which to me sounded like "that will take another few minutes of my life time when I go outside" and she was just laughing. I should stop now. My blood pressure is rising again and I just hate to write that anyway.... @ the quote wizard Brigitte: The gig cheered me up too, esp. "These are the days" That was lovely indeed!!!

That's sad indeed . Especially on an official product that was made to be buyed!!! Now I'm not sure if I'd rather see the footage myself to get my own impression (not that I don't trust yours or never see it...and try to erase all that from my mind. I used to love an italian artist very much (have been a fan for something like 15 years) and had the chance of meeting him some times etc....but at a certain point, circumstances arose that threw water on my enthusiasm, so to speak. He talked about retiring, seemed to reject his fans on some occasions (I recall a radio show where we could talk to him on the phone, and he was so cold and unpleasant, especially toward another girl...when he used to be so warm and friendly), and to cut it short, there were a couple of incidents that put me off a lot. They were not his fault only, but I think they were deeply linked with his former attitude - he used to give a lot, so that we expected a lot every time, and maybe he had grown tired of it all of a sudden, or in a certain period of his life. Well, anyway, after that I found out I wasn't able to follow him anymore. It was a gradual thing, but irreversible. (I suppose it was my "fault" too, because I also happened to change in some ways...and I could say we "grew apart"). After 3 or 4 years, Queen began to cover that blank space in my life, and I tried to cope with Freddie's "dark side" (I mean, being promiscuous or things like that - NOT the fact that he was gay or bisex!) and maybe succeeded ALSO because he was beyond all judgments already - he was gone. But I firmly believed his art was far more important than his personal attitude toward...things - or I THOUGHT I believed that. Now I feel bad about Roger sometimes, so I guess I'm not over this sort of situations. Maybe I'm not mature - but I still find it difficult to dissociate the artist from the man, or to accept that an artist can put his/her audience off in some moments. And what's the real attitude of that person then? Also, respect for fans shoudn't be something that comes and goes depending on the moment or the mood. I try hard to put myself in a famous person's shoes sometimes, and yes, I guess there are moments when you can even hate it all - or part of it - but when I read things like those Brigitte and Cooper wrote, I can't help feeling they're unfair (I mean the things that happened, not the 2 of you ). I can find an explanation or excuse for that "old & young" issue (valid or not...I just tried : , but not for the whole Roger's attitude if it's really like that... Please excuse me for venting out a little ...

Ok, my two cents worth. I haven't seen the DVD but I don't like the fact that I would have to put up with watching Sarina gushing or whatever she is doing over Roger. No thanks!!
