But you said something about songs with lyrics you don't forget topped the charts these days. Well what aboutPower to Love, that is something you don't forget. Or Liar, both of them would stick in your mind and make it well in the charts. Yeah, but I meant that boy bands and other commercial shit all seems the same to me. Their music, their lyrics, their dances, very simple music. Which can't be said of The Cross, IMO

Yeah. Something I was thinking about. Was the Cross ever huge in Germany ? Did they have any huge hits there ?? Not really. I'm not sure about the chart positions, but I doubt they managed it in the top 50. Another thing regarding boy bands comes to my mind. Have you ever noticed that they're looking all the same? Take "Westlife" for instance. They are like clones. There is no outrageous lead singer, no "my hair is my trade mark" gituarist, no cool and VERY handsome drummer and no quite and calm bass player. Well, of course not, coz Queen had all of them...

Yes, they are all the same.....awfull.And how often is you see a band with a showman ship like Freddies ?? Never.... I don't think these boybands will last forever, they are like the disco periode. Very in for a while, but suddenly people get tierd of it......so I hope

Btw, I thought all those boy band guys were selected by their looks, but yesterday I saw Blue on tv and they were butt ugly! Well, not really ugly, but absolutely NOT cute and no sex appeal at all. I really can't understand why so many young girls are screaming their head off for them... Me neither Back to what you were saying about pop idol at the moment here in the UK we have X-Factor going at the moment. It's slightly different in that they've allowed anybody to enter. Anybody from 1 - 100, so I've been watching it (arrrggghhhh lol) but there's a boy on there whose Irish called Tabby. When he auditoned he was part of a band but he's gone seperate and he's fab. He is rock 'n' roll through and through, plus he plays a guitar a lot ;D He's different from Westlife and Blue and that's what our charts need. He's being managed (is that the right word - probably not!) by Sharon Osbourne and IMHO she is a diva ;D So there you go he should win it coz it's nice to see something slightly refreshing!! From reading your other posts though I think the English (not including myself coz I am slightly fussy) will buy anything and everything and that's probably why bands from the Netherlands are doing ok other here

That's the point! Look at Popstars, Idol whatever, they can sing only (if at all), but not playing any instruments. This is soo boring. And we even have the 4. volume of Popstars over here at the moment. Another band wich won't make it.

Right, Eliza. It's got nothing to do with talent these days (at least not as a proper musician or song writer). What I find scaring as well is that the record industries just don't take time anymore to really build up a band and teach them stuff. Nowadays most bands manage only one album and if the second one isn't selling they are discarded. To come back to the Cross: They have never been big in Germany though a lot of promo has been done back then. But at least they managed to record 3 albums. I think it's due to the reason that Roger was a part of the band. With an unnamed singer I think the record company would have dumped them earlier... I still think "Blue Rock" was their best album and it was by far the best tour I had seen of them. They really developed a very good life act .... but weren't selling enough records and I think this and combined with Freddie's death - that was the end.
